Melinda Austen

Background

For over twenty-five years I worked as a clinician, clinical supervisor, trainer, project worker and program coordinator across the government, health, not for profit and private sectors. I worked predominantly with refugee and asylum seekers, defence and police. As a clinician in private practice, I specialised in working with couples and LGBTQ communities.

What do I offer?

Being passionate about reflective practice, skills development and organisational systems, I have transitioned over the years from direct clinical work into clinical supervision and coaching.

I offer clinical supervision to clinicians and caseworkers working in a variety of sectors, and coaching to professionals in new leadership positions. I am aware of the challenges that non-clinical professionals face in working with mental health and trauma and, offer reflective practice and coaching to support your learning goals.

Qualifications

I hold accreditation in mental health social work, and post graduate qualifications in public service management and couple and family therapy. Given a love of literature and a belief in the importance of work-life balance, I am currently studying professional writing and editing.
